Our New Cross

Parish woodworkers George Booth and Chris Noyes have completed the new cross for the church rooftop.

The cross is made of Spanish Cedar and weighs about 40 lbs. Cut and carved from a single 11' x 2" plank, it is composed of eight separate pieces held together by 35 stainless steel screws.

It is almost exactly like the cross it replaced.

According to George, "Our hope is to have it mounted in October. Once it is installed, I'll start on the smaller cross. The smaller cross is simpler to cut, but the original is pretty much destroyed, making it impossible to use the disassembled pieces as templates, which we did on the large cross."
